How to create an Information Post

  1. Prepare your Promotion Image and have it ready to be uploaded.
  2. Select Promotions in the Dashboard.
  3. Click Add Promotion.
  4.  Click Post.

  5. Give your Promotion a Title – this will only show to admins
  6. Give your promotion a Headline –  this is the title your Fans will see
  7. Write the Short Description- this message will appear on your Facebook Wall Posts and newsfeed, shorter the better
  8. Write the Long Description- Provide a full pitch of the promotion, and how to redeem

  9. Upload your Image. This is used only for Post deal thumbnails, not in for the content of the actual post
  10. Create message for post to desktop. You can include an image by clicking the Insert Image button on the toolbar. You’ll need to link to an image on the Internet. You can upload an image from your computer to Imgur.com, then use the link imgur provides under “Direct Link (email & IM)”.

  12. Input conditions and restrictions
  13. Assign Profile Questions if desired
  14. Assign FanGate if desired
  15. Select Facebook pages and Twitter accounts for message distribution
  16. Choose messaging type and method.  Check Yes if you would like to customize your Facebook Wall post, Twitter update, email, and SMS.

  17. Fill out all the blank fields for the methods you would like to customize
  18. Establish validation, publishing, and expiration timeline
  19. Select your Promotion’s Status

    20. Draft: your deal will be saved as is, and you can revisit it at any time and make changes

    Publish Now: your deal will be published immediately

    Scheduled for: pick a specific time you want your deal published on your Facebook page

  20. You can Preview your deal.  Click Preview in the lower right.
  21. Once you are satisfied with your promotion, click Save.

How to create a Flash Deal

  1. Proceed to create a Promotion
    1. Give your Promotion a Title – this will only show to admins

    3. Write the Short Description – this message will appear on your Facebook Wall Posts and News Feed; the shorter, the better
    4. Write the Long Description – provide a full description of the promotion, including how to redeem

 

  1. Upload your Promotion image

  3. Input conditions and restrictions
  4. Create coupon code (optional)
  5. Provide URL to website (optional)
  6. Create timeline
  7. Assign Profile Questions if desired
  8. Assign a FanGate if desired
  9. Choose messaging type and method.  Check Yes if you would like to customize your Facebook Wall post, Twitter update, email, and SMS.

a. Fill out all the blank fields for the methods you would like to customize

b. Establish dates for publishing the promotion, how long it will appear in the deal stream, and expiration

c. Select your Promotion’s Status

Draft: your deal will be saved as-is, and you can revisit it at any time to make changes

Publish Now: your deal will be published immediately. Notifications will be triggered.

Scheduled for: pick a specific time you want your deal published on your Facebook page

10. You can Preview your deal.  Click Preview in the lower right.

How to create a Group Buy

  3. Click Add Promotion
  4.  Click Group. If you haven’t set up your payment gateway yet (PayPal account), see these instructions.
  1. Proceed to create a Promotion
    1. Give your Promotion a Title – this will only show to admins
    2. Give your promotion a Headline –  this is the title your Fans will see
    3. Write the Short Description – this message will appear on your Facebook Wall Posts and News Feed; the shorter, the better
    4. Write the Long Description – Provide a full description of the promotion, including how to redeem

  5. Assign the maximum units available for purchase
  6. Assign maximum units one customer can purchase
  7. Choose price per unit

  11. Create timeline
  12. Assign Profile Questions if desired
  13. Assign FanGate if desired
  14. Choose messaging type and method.  Check Yes if you would like to customize your Facebook Wall post, Twitter update, email, and SMS.

How to create a FanGate

Uploading a FanGate

Tip: FanGates can be used as a way to encourage a user to Like a Facebook page before they are able to get access to a deal.  You can read more about FanGates in our Library or click here.  FanGates must be set up before you can assign a FanGate to a deal.

1. In the Dashboard, click FanGate

2. Click Add FanGate

3. Name the FanGate, and upload the FanGate Image

4. If the FanGate image doesn’t have text accompanying it, you can add text in the text field here.  It is recommended text is included in your FanGate image rather than accompanying it with text.

Click Save to store the FanGate.  It can be assigned to as many deals as needed

How to connect FanTools to your Twitter Account

How to Add a Twitter Account

After you have logged in to the FanTools Admin:

  1. Click Social Media in the top Dashboard.
  2. Click Twitter Accounts.
  3. Click Add Twitter Account.

A Twitter form will pop up for you to input your Twitter Account information.

Fill in Twitter account info and click Authorize App.  Once you have authorized the app, your FanTools account will be properly routed to your desired Twitter account and you can tweet out your new deals.

 

 

 

Connecting FanTools to Facebook Pages

Connecting FanTools to Facebook Pages

1. Login to your Facebook account on Facebook, make sure you are logged into Facebook as a person, not as a Facebook page. You must be an administrator of the Facebook Page you wish to connect to FanTools.

2. In the FanTools admin dashboard, click Social Media on the top of the FanTools Dashboard

3. Click Add Pages button, this will pull up a list of all the Facebook pages you administer that do not have the FanTools app installed

Note: You MUST be the administrator of the Facebook page you are installing FanTools on.  Make sure your browser is allowing pop-ups. If you get an error message while trying to install FanTools on your Facebook page, please log out of both FanTools and Facebook, close your browser, clear your temporary internet files, clear cookies, and try again in a few moments.

4. Allow Facebook permissions, and Add FanTools to your page.

5. Select page(s) to which you want to post deal.  Click Save.

6. Please Note: Now click the large blue +  button to Add FanTools.

** If this step is missed, the page will not correctly install the FanTools tab, and the FanTools app will not appear on your Facebook page.

Deals should appear in the left hand column of your Facebook page under Wall and Info

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After the FanTools app is installed, you can click “edit page” in the upper right of the Facebook page.

  1. Click Apps in the left navigation column.
  2. Scroll down to FanTools.
  3. Click Edit settings, and you can name FanTools whatever you like.  The default name is FanTools.

Tip: Click save before clicking okay

 

 

How to Get Support

How to get Support

Anytime you are having any issues with FanTools, please follow the steps below.

1. Login to FanTools

2. In the upper right of your FanTools admin environment, click “Get Help”

3. Browse through the Help section of the blog to find answers, if you can’t find your answer in this section, continue to step 4.

4. Fill out the “Get Help” form, and a representative will respond quickly, often within an hour, always within 24 hours.

Tip:Throughout the application, you can hover your mouse over the    for extra help and tips.

How to Create and Assign Roles

1. From the FanTools Admin, Click Administration

2. Click Add Role

3. Name the Role. Examples: Designer, Store Manager, Corporate Marketing, Owner, Local Store Marketing Manager, Agency Employee

4. Assign the specific role permissions

5. Click Admin Users, edit the user you want the new Role assigned to. You can also assign roles as part of creating new users.
